Create A Kitchen You Actually Enjoy

Posted on: 1 June 2017

Do you enjoy spending time in your kitchen? Is it a place in your home that you can honestly say you find comfortable, usable and easy to keep clean? If you don't enjoy spending time in a space as used as your kitchen, it's time to make some changes. Now, you don't have to rip out the walls, replace all the cabinets and countertops, but updating some elements could be just what you need.

Start with the Walls

Seriously, just changing the color or materials on the walls can go a long way in making the room more enjoyable for you and your family. Dark spaces aren't as easy on the eyes as light, airy rooms. So, consider applying a fresh, light color on the walls.

Look at the back-splash. Does it have grime built up on it that just won't come off? Is the paint worn down from where you've scrubbed to get that spaghetti sauce off from your last family dinner? You could go all out and tile the back-splash, or you could get the easy to apply peel and stick tiles and get it done in just a few hours.

Continue with the Cabinets

Take a look at the hardware on your cabinets. If the finish is coming off or they just look dated, you could get away with a quick replacement of the drawer pulls and cabinet handles.

If your cabinet bases are in good condition, there is no need to completely replace them. Cabinet refacing is quick, affordable and easy to have done. New doors, drawer faces and hardware will go a long way in upgrading the look of your kitchen with much less of a mess than replacing them.

Finish with the Floors

There are so many easy to use flooring materials available these days. Many of these materials require nothing more than a measuring tape, saw and rubber mallet. You don't need to install ceramic tile to get the look of ceramic tile. Laminates have come a long way over the years and are easy to install, easy to maintain and more affordable than you might think.

If you aren't completely sure of what you should do, you have a number of professionals that can walk you through the process. Maybe start with a quote to reface the cabinetry and see where the project takes you from there. Soon, your kitchen will be as pleasurable as the food that you prepare in it.

Learning All About Home Remodeling Projects

Hi there, I'm Edgar Elroy. I am excited to share my remodeling expertise through this website. Although this is not my profession, I have gained a lot of knowledge about remodeling materials, tools and techniques over the years. I recently hired a contractor to remodel my bathroom and kitchen areas for an updated look. The remodeling process took some extra time because I changed the plans in the middle of the project. Thankfully, my contractor was willing to adjust the bid to compensate for the changes. I would like to share information about remodeling from the bidding process to applying the paint. I hope you will learn a lot from the information on my site. Thanks.
